Preparing the Ingredients

There are several ingredients that you need for this recipe. You will need:
    Slices VegetablesFoil Pack Recipe Ingredients
  • One Small Onion
  • 4 Medium Potatoes
  • 2 Carrots
  • A little bit of Rosemary
  • Some of Cavender's Greek Seasoning
  • 1 - 1.5 Pound Ground Beef
Once you get all of these, you will need to prepare them. First, peel and slice the 2 carrots. You don't need to peel the potatoes, but you do need to slice them pretty small. Slice the onion. Open the ground beef and form it into 4 patties, similar to hamburgers. Make sure not to cross-contaminate and use a different cutting board for the meat and the vegetables. Also, be very careful when using a knife.

Making the Foil Packs

Making the foil packs can be very difficult or confusing so I have made a short video on how to do this.
  • Get a piece of foil that is about arm's length.
  • Fold it in half longways once.
  • Fold it in half longways another time.
  • Fold the sides into very small folds very tightly.
  • You have successfully made a foil pack.

Adding the Ingredients

Open Foil Pack
One side of your foil pack should be open. First, add the meat patty to it, then add the onions, carrots, and potatoes. Once that is done sprinkle in the rosemary and the Greek Seasoning. Then add small, tight folds to the side of the foil pack, just like you did for the 2 ends.Closed Foil Pack

Cooking the Foil Pack

Plated Foil Pack
You should now have a closed foil pack. Use a chimney to heat up some coals or grab some off the campfire. Set them somewhere that people will not step on them and get hurt. Set your foil packs down on the coals and let them cook for about 30 minutes. At 15 minutes flip them over. The foil packs should puff up at about 15-20 minutes. Wait 10-15 minutes. Use tongs to pull them off the coals and set them on a table. Let them cool for a few minutes and then open them and put them on a plate. You can slice the patty into small pieces before eating it if you want to. Each foil pack feeds one person. You can now eat your foil packs!

Foil packs are a great meal to make on campouts. You can be creative and use them to make anything that you want. They are fun easy and can be very healthy. They are even good for just camping in your backyard! Do you know any good meals for campouts? If you do, write them in the comments! If you like this, please share it on social media.
